BCRC Working Landscape Committee

Please join us for a roundtable discussion with many of the people in our region who are involved in efforts to develop and sustain a vibrant working landscape. The meeting will begin with introductory comments from each of the organizations, after which we will hear from Paul Costello, Executive Director of the Vermont Council on Rural Development. Paul will report on recent legislative actions affecting agriculture, forestry, and related businesses. The Working Lands Enterprise Investment Bill creates a Working Lands Enterprise Fund and a Working Lands Enterprise Board to oversee the Fund. The intent is to stimulate a concerted economic development effort on behalf of Vermont’s agriculture and forest products sectors by systematically advancing entrepreneurism, business development, and job creation.
It is hoped that this initial meeting will generate ideas for possible projects and help to create the cooperative relationships that will move those ideas toward implementation.
